Object Number - UPL 16615 - My dad was always writing letters, and the War didn't stop him from continuing to do so.

I am proud to have copies of some of the letters my father wrote during the War. In my favorite one, my father discusses how he met a young lady who invited him to have dinner with her family. He arrived to a feast laid out on their dinner table and enjoyed their company and food. Only later, when he dropped by unexpectedly, did he find out that they had used a week's worth of their rations for that wonderful meal. He greatly appreciated their charity and sacrifice and never forgot it.

In addition to the medals listed above, he also earned a Distinguished Unit Badge.

In 1949, he changed his name to Ozzie Greene.
