Woodruff Ave. Milwaukee was killed in action over Germany. He was a bombardier-navigator on a B24 Liberator bomber Named Flack Happy and was initially listed as missing on June 20, 1944. He was later Killed In Action when it was determined that his B24 Liberator bomber crashed in the Baltic Sea. On or about August 6, 1944, his body washed ashore near Sassnitz Ruegen Island and was buried in the community Cemetery of Sassnitz by the German Military
