Colonely Zemke (56th Fighter Group) has handwritten on the reverse: 'A gathering of crew chiefs at the farm house at Halesworth (62nd Fighter Squadron) on a clear day. The inevitable bicyle was forever present especially on the perimeter as everywhere else was mud. This field was being built for ultimate use by bombers.'

Anton and Leonard Kutter, the maternal uncles of Colonel Hubert Zemke, commanding officer of the 56th Fighter Group, in the German army during the First World War. Anton Kutter, maternal uncle of Colonel Hubert Zemke, commanding officer of the 56th Fighter Group, in the German Army during the First World War. Zemke has handwritten on the reverse: 'My Uncle Anton Kutter. Starting in the Infantry in 1914 he raised (and surviced) to be a "Unter Offizer". In early 1918 he transferred to aviation. Entry into combat again did not occur until late 1918. By that time the war was almost over. Somehow he survived.'
