This picture was taken in the 1920s on a Summer holiday. Also shown is an aunt with her husband (names unknown). Their two boys (my cousins) are shown on the buggie. They both wound up in the Luftwaffe in WW2. In what capacity or if they survived, I do not know.'

Z throughout his life. It is interesting to note that we had fighter pilots who trained and combated in P-47s with eight machine guns, yet when checked on the skeet and pistol range flinched at the explosion of a weapon.'

A B-17 Flying Fortress (serial number 41-24585) captured by the Luftwaffe. Handwritten caption on reverse: 'Picture illegally taken at the German-occupied Leeuwarden Air Base, summer 1943 (?). It shows a B-17 shot down in the Northern part of Friesland, made ready for flight by the Germans and with Luftwaffe Insignia.
