A new American single-engined, monoplane fighter, designed for fast speeds at high altitudes, has now arrived in England for service with fighter squadrons. In the States, where it is in quantity production for the U.S.A.A.F., it is popularly known as the P-47, but over here it has been officially named "Thunderbolt". With a wingspan of 41 feet and a 2,000 h.p. engine, this machine has a speed of over 400 m.p.h. Associated Press Photo Shows:- Going through their paces.
