Here are pictures of Thunderbolts P-47s, the famous American fighter planes, which escort Flying Fortresses on their daylight missions over Occupied Europe. Photo shows:- William Randolph HEARST, Jr., talks with Lt. Col. James J. STONE, Jr., Westfield, N.J., as the Colonel prepares to lead his Thunderbolt P-47 group on another bomber-escort mission into Germany. Mr Hearst visited this fighter station "somewhere in England", and attended the briefing before the mission.
