IMAGEDescription Elwood D. Raymond 2nd B.A.C. To: Miss B.M. Carson (Bertha May) 600 Stuyvesant Ave Irvington, N.J. From: Lt. E.D. Raymond 0-814759 A.O.g. 16212-FJ C/O Postmaster New York, N.Y. July 8, 1944 Somewhere in England Hello Folks, As you can see from the heading I’ve finally gotten over here- altho mother has probably told you already-and that’s about all I’m allowed to tell you. Altho I sensor my own letters, every once in a while they look at enough of officer’s letters just to check up, and if I should write something I’m not supposed to, and they picked that letter – I’d really be in a jam. England is pretty much as I expected; small towns, little narrow winding roads, and all that sort of stuff. The people don’t speak American and their money looks like wallpaper. I still haven’t figured out how much it’s worth, so I just hand out a hand full and let them take what he wants when I buy something. We are very busy, more so than ever – but I’ll write you again as soon as I can. Don

The person the letter is addressed to is Berta May Carson (my great-grandaunt) and she was Elwood's aunt. I found the letter in a trunk a few years ago along with several pictures of Elwood and other family members.
