"1st Lt Donald L. Ahlwardt Inspects the severed tail of his aircraft after 3-Feb-44 Willhelmshaven mission. An aircraft from another group sheared the tail section off after the formation had partially dispersed when encountering weather. Sgt Lublinsky, the tail gunner was lost. Lt Ahlwardt was killed in a second mid-air collision over Berlin in Mar-44."
