Load list for every original crew member of the 491st departing the U.S. in April, 1944 1st Lt. Dean Strain and Crew transported Col Jack Merrill on this movement. Jack G Merrell was Deputy Commander of the 491st from its activation in October 1943 until March 1945 when he became Commander of the 389th. He was later General in command of Air Force Logistics.
