Roger Freeman climbing a tree at Leiston airfield in 1953. He was investigating the crash of pilot Otto "Dittie" Jenkins of the 364th Fighter Squadron/364th Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group. Jenkins was killed when his aircraft crashed on 24 March 1945. He had just completed his tour and was buzzing up the field in celebration when he struck a tree near the base. The Mustang struck the ground and exploded killing Jenkins.
