Lt. Harding R. Zumwalt and crew in front of his Republic P-47D-5-RE Thunderbolt (s/n 42-8524). He was a pilot with the 83rd Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group. The P-47 carried the artwork of Superman flying with a yellow disc background, but no name. It carried the squadron code HL-Y. Shown with him is his Crew Chief, S/Sgt. Junior McAdams (center) and Assistant Crew Chief Sgt. Harold King (right).
