This is the insignia of the 13th Antisubmarine Squadron. when the US Navy took over A/S duties the 13th became the new 493rd BG, 863rd bombardment squadron. the "patch", a cat carrying a bomb over water, was never adopted by the 863rd BS and was worn only by the original members of the squadron that had previously served with the 13th Antisubmarine squadron.
