Roger Thorngren had part of the plexiglass nose cone shattered by spent 50 cal shell casings falling from an aircraft just above his. The bomber crew was testing it's guns and the falling shell casings accidentally struck Dad's aircraft.
The note reads "This is a piece of glass from the nose of my B-17. It was ejected from a gun from the B-17 ahead and above us. It did not quite come through the nose and ended up in my lap. R.T.
