Smutsky Bomardier, "Goose" Gosewski, Navigator - Trivia: This plane was the only one to go up on the morning of D-Day 6 am. The crew could see the ships in the Channel waiting to invade Normandy. Quote from D. L. Peterson, "The ships were so close it looked like you could walk from one to another like stepping stones." Also, Sgt. Peterson would reminisce that the crew felt relief and knew they were 'home' when they could see the white cliffs of Dover.
