"EYE FOR BEAUTY: The same eye that will soon operate instruments of death and destruction over Germany's open-air fortress is arrested, for the moment, in what might very well be an artist's conception of Forts soaring above fleecy clouds. Despite the absence of bombs, enemy combat, flak and the like, this photo is nonetheless authentic. These forts of the 8th AAF are a small fraction of the largest task force ever dispatched to attack enemy objectives recently over southwestern Germany."
