At Boxted air base, Staff Sergeant Robert E. Robischon of the 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group, re-arms each of the eight 50 calibre machine guns on a P-47 Thunderbolt whilst Master Sergeant James H. McGee and Sergeant John A. Koval attach a bomb to the undercarriage of the port wing. The 56th Fighter Group were stationed at Boxted between 18 April 1944 and 9 September 1945.
