Leonard J. Schlesinger (top row, 2nd from right, w/ the red spot on him) with his flight crew during WWII. At the time he was a 2nd Lieutenant serving as a navigator on a B-17 nicknamed the "Little Rebel", in the Mighty Eighth Air Force, 490th Bomb Group, 850th Bomb Squadron. Lenny was stationed in Eye, England during the war. (Although he and his crew flew a B-17, this ceremonial photo was actually taken in front of a B-24!)

My father told me and my family many stories about his WWII service. I have also seen his honorable discharge papers and his Air Medal, along with other memorabilia, which we have. We also have this photo of his flight crew. Unfortunately, Dad died this year, in April, 2017 at 92 years old.
