Waist Gunners of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, 42-5070 'Invader II', (L to R) S/Sgt. Eldon R. Lapp, [ Fort Wayne ] and S/Sgt. William D. King, [ Imperial, Texas ]. S/Sgt (later M/Sgt) William Don King (radio operator) POW on 17 april 1943 (was born on jan 18th, 1923 - killed in action in the crash of B-29A from 98th BW 344th BS in South Korea on aug 30th, 1952). S/Sgt Eldon R Lapp (tail gunner) was born on may 17th, 1920 - passed away on oct 2nd, 2001 (he is buried at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana (POW on 17 april 1943, flying aboard 42-5070 "Invasion II").
