Lt. Walter E. Murphey from Indiana flew with the 351st Fighter Squadron/353rd Fighter Group, 8th AAF out of Raydon, Suffolk, England. Murphey would start his tour with the 353rd on August 18, 1944 and complete it in April 1945. Murphey would train and fly with fellow squadron mates, Lt. George S. Montgomery, Lt. Billy J. Murray, and Lt. John M. Nicklebur in Coleman, Greenville, and Eagle Pass, Texas.
