Ground crew scavenge a P-51 Mustang for parts at RAF Duxford. It is marked with the squadron code 'WZ', of the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, which flew Mustangs in combat from January 1945 onwards. It is highly likely this is P-51K-5-NT, s/n 44-11743, coded WZ-J. It was written off 11 February 1945 in a ground accident at RAF Duxford UK. It was parked along with another 84th FS P-51 (s/n  44-11629, coded WZ-E) when both ships were struck by a landing 82nd FS P-51 (s/n 44-11675, coded MX-N), flown by Lt. Harry L. Roe. Of all the 84th FS mishaps from January to May 1945, "J" is the only individual aircraft code that appears to match what little of it you can see in this photo.
