A P-51 Mustang (QI-B, serial number 44-15080) nicknamed "Carolyn's Vergeltungswaffe" of the 356th Fighter Group, flown by Captain Amos H Bomberger II. Handwritten caption on reverse: 'Dec 1944. QI-B on hardstand (PSP) at Martlesham Heath in midst of having red stripe painted on solid blue spinner. Name had not been applied yet. 110 gal resin impregnated cardboard tanks. Note incompletetly striped area on bottom of spinner, I was using a brush instead of a spray gun used on the rest of the paint job. A Hess Bomberger (pilot).' FRE 13461
