As part of my Veterans Oral History Project here at Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, SC - we interviewed Mr. Meyne on several occasions. Russ and I became great friends until his death a couple years ago. On one very special occasion, Russ and I traveled to Mighty Eight Air force Museum in Savannah, Ga. I learned so much from Russ about WWII airpower and the air war over Europe. His stories of his bombing runs, flak, and his crash landing on his first mission were incredible. I use his stories every year I teach my WWII curriculum. His memory and his service live on in my class every year.
