Letter sent from Clayton L Miller to Loran C Young dated 30 December 1943 (page 1). It reads: “Dec. 30 1943 Dear Loran, Your mother gave me your address and I have been going to write to you for quite a while. I haven’t heard from you since you finished school here in the U.S. You really got over quick. You beat me by quite a few months. But I expect to be out of the U.S. soon so don’t write to me as I probably won’t get it anyway. I forget where I was when you last wrote. But anyway I went thru gunnery school and have since been through three phases of training first engineer on a B-24 bomber. I’m on a very good crew. The…”

Diane Young Holliday says of Clayton Miller: 'He was a high school friend of my father, Loran C. Young (who served in North Africa and Italy). My Dad, through the years, would occasionally mention two of his high school friends who had died in the war, always with tears in his eyes. Clayton was one of these friends. After my Dad died in 2012, I went through his papers and found an envelope with a December 30, 1943, letter from Clayton and an obituary that included his photo. We came across your website a couple of weeks ago and I think my Dad would have wanted to honor Clayton by posting this on your website. '
