Originally 8 493 860 (C). Received at North Pickenham only a few days before the crash-landing. Crashed & burned 18 Sep 44 at Swingfield Minnis, about 4 miles N of Folkestone, Kent, returning from supply drop to Allied airborne forces in the Netherlands. Right main landing gear torn out. Was probably attempting an emergency landing at nearby RAF Hawkinge whence the 3 SAD Field Engineering salvage team operated.
