A PT-3A training aircraft flown by Hubert Zemke, later commanding officer of the 56th Fighter Group, whilst learning to fly. Zemke has handwritten on the reverse: 'February 1936- a Consolidated PT-3A- Primary trainer at Randolph Field Texas. Soloed in 5 1/2 hours- First forced landing at 12.30 hours. What a 'hot kite' Notice the square wing screen. The istructor talked thru a rubber tube to the student. Landing gear had no hydraulics but rubber shock cords. Top speed about 25mph if you wond the rubber back and forth.'
