Anton Kutter, maternal uncle of Colonel Hubert Zemke, commanding officer of the 56th Fighter Group, in the German Army during the First World War. Zemke has handwritten on the reverse: 'My Uncle Anton Kutter. Starting in the Infantry in 1914 he raised (and surviced) to be a "Unter Offizer". In early 1918 he transferred to aviation. Entry into combat again did not occur until late 1918. By that time the war was almost over. Somehow he survived.'
