Anton and Leonard Kutter, the maternal uncles of Colonel Hubert Zemke, commanding officer of the 56th Fighter Group, in the German army during the First World War. Zemke has handwritten on the reverse: 'Two brothers- my uncles on my mothers side- Anton & Leonard Kutter, both were in the Kaiser's Army for 4 years 1914-1918. Both survived to leave Germany & become American Citizens. Both became Unter Offizeren in the German WWI army.'
