B-26 Marauders of the 386th Bomb Group fly in formation over fellow Marauders. Passed as censored 30 Sep 1943. Handwritten caption on reverse: '23. 65. 386.' Printed caption on reverse: 'AMERICA'S "RED DEVIL" [a censor has omitted 'Red Devil']FLYERS. USP/2247-83. Airborne, the first box manoeuvres into position on their down-wing leg around the field. The pilots are adept at formation flying, fly it close for mutual fire support in case of enemy fighter opposition. Each ship has two 50-calibre tail guns, twelve such guns in all (the same number as the Flying Fortress) and "Jerry" has already felt their sting, in fact he is now reluctant to come in and fight.'
