Lieutenant Jim Davis and Lieutenant Tom Trainor of the 455th Bomb Squadron, 323rd Bomb Group with their battle damaged B-26 Marauder, nicknamed "Miss Emily". Passed for publication 18 Aug 1943. Printed caption on reverse: 'America's New Super Medium Bomber In Britain. 18.8.43. The U.S. Super Medium bomber, the "Marauder" is now operating from Britain after doing fine work in N. Africa and Sicily. It has a range of 2,000 miles with a speed of 350 m.p.h. and a wing span of 65 ft., and carries one ton of bombs. Driven by two 2,000 h.p. Pratt and Whitney "Wasp" engines, armed with 8 of the famous "Calibre 50" machine guns, and carries a crew of 6, all of who wear "flak" armour and steel hats. The picture shows:- Lt. Jim Davis of Ellijay, Georgia, (pilot) (right) and Lt. Tom Trainor of Haverill, Mass., (Navigator) (left), who had narrow escapes when their ship "Miss Emily" 41-34719 YA-A was hit during a raid on Merville recently. Trainor just left his seat before it was destroyed by a shell and Davis sitting near was saved by his armour.' Censor no: 279283.
