A P-47 Thunderbolt (Y8-O, serial number 42-25857) of the 404th Fighter Group, 507th Fighter Squadron. One of the original P-47 D22s issued in April 1944 to the 507thFS at Winkton (Station 414) in England. Usually flown by Duane Int-out and occasionally Fred Varn, Robert Duffy and Duane Ash. Image from Dan E Morse (387th Bomb Group) via Peter Crouchman. Handwritten caption on reverse: '507, 404 FG.' This aircraft crashed on take off from A-92 St-Trond on 18 November 1944 with Lt. John P. Boland at the controls. Lt Boland was back in action at the end of November while the aircraft was repaired.
