3rd Radio Squadron (Mobile)

The Signal Intelligence Service, Ninth Air Force consists of the 3rd Radio Squadron Mobile (G) and the Staff Signal Intelligence Officer of Headquarters, Ninth Air Force and subordinate commands and wings. The mission of Detachment “B” of the 3rd Radio Squadron Mobile (G) is the interception, translation, and fixing of voice traffic of the German Air Force, and the immediate transmission of operational intelligence to the Fighter Control Center of the 70th Wing, IX Tactical Air Command. In addition, Detachment “B” is to provide two types of air situation reports to A-2. 70th Wing, A-2, IX TAC, and A-2, Ninth Air Force: reports based on traffic intercepted by the detachment itself (reports of tactical interest) and reports based on the Kingsdown Intelligence Broadcasts which are of strategic interest.
