Willis Lee Jones
MilitaryJones served in Europe as a Co-Pilot with the 338th Bomb Squadron of the 96th Bomb Group.
Sent through to the American Air Museum by Willis' friend, Tyler Hayes.
Damaged by flak on a mission to Watten, FR on 13 Feb 1944, B-17F #42-3556 'Dear Mom' returned to England and landed at RAF West Malling, Kent. RTD.
Shot down on his 26th mission on 13 April 1944 in B-17 #4231774 'Vera Mae'. He was taken as a Prisoner of War (POW).
Willis' wartime diaries are held by the Nebraska State Historical Society.
