Bill flew on 25 combat missions November '43 - March '44 from Knettishall. On that of 5 December 1943 crew bailed out over Cornwall. B-17 42-30350. Returning from mission to Bordeaux with bomb damage, darkness and low on gas, 10RTD. About 150 ft from where Bill landed was a farmhouse...within 15 minutes of bailing out he was in an English home having tea and tarts.
