William E Kern
MilitaryOn 15 August 1944 whilst flying to Le Muy as part of the invasion of Southern France. The Horsa glider he was flying disintegrated in mid air 30 miles North East of Bastia and crashed into the sea.
Kern and his fellow passenger Robert Hardin were killed in Action, Kern's body was not recovered.
