On the return from a mission to Augsburg, Germany on 16 Mar 1944 fighter attacks knocked out 3 engines on B-17G 42-39916 and the a/c crash-landed E of Le Treport, France. Prisoner of War. Was wounded in the hand and passed out. Didn't know plane had crashed.
