B-17 Navigator Wayne Hollopeter, center, reunited with his brothers Earl, left, and Frank, right, in 1945, the first time they had all been together since 1939. They all served in the 8th Air Force in England, but at different bases. He flew 34 missions, the last 7 as Command Navigator.
I am his nephew.
Lt. Hollopeter flew 34 missions, the final 7 as Command Navigator. He remained in the Air Force after WWII, eventually reaching the rank of Major. He was killed in the crash of a KB50 refueling airplane at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, Texas, in 1961.
