He registered for the WW II draft; he was listed as living in Philadelphia and employed by the F.H.A. in Philadelphia. He was 5' 11 1/2" tall; weighed 166 pounds; had brown hair, brown eyes and a 'ruddy' complexion.

He entered the service on 08 February 1943 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He enlisted as a Private; he had a two years of college education, was single, without dependents and his civilian occupation was listed as: "Salesmen, insurance".

Tom appears on General Orders #9 of 31 March 1944 as one of the members of the 437th TCG being awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He returned from overseas on 14 August 1945 and was released from Active Duty on 25 September 1945 at Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, Pennsylvania.

He was a member of the 437th TCG Association and appeared on their rosters from 1950 until 1980.
