Stanley J Patterson
Military"Iowans of the Mighty Eighth", Chapter 26 "Biographies", by Charles D Taylor.
He was already working as an accountant when he was drafted on November 7 1941 and sent for Basic Training and to Medical Administration school. He was then posted to Salt Lake City where the 305th Bomb Group was being formed up. Sent overseas, the Group landed up at Chelveston in December 1942 and there Stanley operated the base dispensary, completed medical reports and dealt with sick calls. Following VE Day the Group moved to Belgium and he returned to the States in September 1945. He afterwards worked for the Iowa Employment Security Commission, retiring in 1985.
