Sammy Sutherland Gunn

Sammy Sutherland Gunn was a Florida resident, but was born in France. According to the Illinois Death Index, he died in Chicago, Illinois on 28 Feb 1946 and was buried in Oakwoods Cemetery. Ten years later, he was re interred in Arlington National Cemetery (ANC).
Gunn completed 30 missions with the 95th Bomb Group from December 1943 to April 1944, and was later reassigned to the 27th Air Transport Group.
Co-pilot on Raymond E Blohm's crew, Assigned to 100th Bomb Group c. March- October 1945.
On 28 February 1946, Gunn committed suicide in a hotel in Chicago, and was buried in Oakwoods Cemetery. Ten years later, in 1956 he was re-interred in Arlington National Cemetery.
His interment card for ANC lists additional information including his primary unit (95th BG), and his award of the DFC and Air Medal w/ 4OLC’s.
