MilitaryAssigned to 790BS, 467BG, 8AF USAAF. Part of the original deployment of the 790th Squadron, 467th Bomb Group, 2d Air Division, Eighth USAAF. 35 Combat Missions. Served as a flight engineer/top turret gunner on B-24, "Perils of Pauline" 42-95162. Primary Aircraft: B-24 "Perils of Pauline," with additional missions in "Witchcraft".
Credited with downing an FW-190 which had just shot down a B-24 in the formation. T/Sgt Rainwater engaged the enemy fighter from his top turret position. FW-190 exploded in mid-air, a confirmed "kill".
On 20-Mar-44, he crashed on landing during last leg of deployment on in B-24 41-29404. RTD.
