Had alrealy flown 19 mission Badly damaged by fighters and flak, B-17G #42-38104 crashed NE of Dinant, Belgium after the crew baled out on a mission to Munster and Hamm, GR on 23 Mar 1944. He escaped from the scene and evaded the Germans, in Brussels, until Sept 7 1944 when he was liberated by the Irish Guard.
