Richard H Grant
MilitaryCorrected spelling of names from MACR 2913
Attacked by ME109s and crashed NW Niort, FR after the crew baled out on a mission to Mont-de-Marsan, FR on 5 Mar 1944 in B-24J #42-100430. Prisoner of War (POW).
In emails with Richard Grants daughter, Tina, she tells this story from his diary. He was not a POW but after bailing out over France spent the remainder of the war in the French underground.
"He remembers the underground experience pretty well. In fact, about five years ago he and mom went to France and met with the children of the couple that harbored him. They got royal treatment and there was a story in the newspaper. The children vaguely remember Dad and Eddie Guidry"
