Raymond S Blunk

Military

Raymond Blunk was assigned to the 493rd BG/ 863rd Bomb Squadron, on 4th April 1945, and only flew 1 Combat mission with the Charles E Gibson crew. He also flew on five "Operation Chowhound” food drop missions, dropping rations to the starving Dutch population. These took place between the 1st and 7th of May 1945.

Charles Gibson, the pilot Blunk flew with, is also listed on 1 “Revival” mission bringing French Prisoners of War back home from Horsching, Austria on 18th May 1945. It is likely that Raymond also flew this mission (493rd BG paperwork only shows the 1st pilot's name).
