Dover-Foxcroft, Maine 1 September 2006 Raymond Carlyle Whitney Jr., 85, died September 1, 2006, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home in Maine. He was born February 3, 1921, in N. Vassalboro, Maine, son of Raymond and Bernice (Lord) Whitney Sr. He Graduated from M.C.I. and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Ray was a veteran of WWII and flew 35 missions as a pilot in the 12th Air Force. He married Dorothy (Hammond) Whitney and was associated with his father and brother in the oil business in Dexter. He was a past master of Cambridge Masonic Lodge and a member of Anah Shrine in Bangor. He served on many town committees and was a long time director of the Dexter Utility District. He was survived by his wife of Greenville, a son, Douglas Whitney of Greenville; two grand daughters, Darcy Hall, and Derica Martin both of Greenville; and six great grand children, Dylan, Bailey, and Charles Martin, and Ethan, Jessica, and Sarah Hall. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Whitney.
