He worked for the Rock Island Railroad before enlisting in March 1942. After completion of training he joined the Group at Framlingham where he flew on 35 combat missions (Crew Number 68). On returning to the USA he trained on the B-29 until being discharged in September 1945. He was afterwards a sales/ service engineer for an Iron Foundry and active in the Johnston Lions Club, giving talks on WW2 to middle school pupils.
