In July 2017, Michael Kacere took a Wings of Freedom flight in a B-17 with his son Richard.
Of his service, he said:
"We were called to duty, and I decided to enlist in the Army Air Corps... We get in that plane, and we have our maps of where we are supposed to go... We went, did our jobs and came back."
