Maurice Lynch served as a bombardier with the 339th Bomb Squadron of the 96th Bomb Group, flying missions out of Snetterton Heath, England. He was shot down on 5 January 1944 in B-17 #423541 'Little Girls'. The plane was also known as 'Kwitchyurbitchen'. The aircraft ditched in the Bay of Biscay. Lynch was taken as a Prisoner of War (POW) and held at Stalag Luft III.
Pilot Ed Davidson met up with Lynch in Palm Desert, CA in 2004.
