Martin A Stires
MilitaryThe F-4D on display outside the museum was in SE Asia during my tour of duty in Vietnam. It was with the 421st Fighter Squadron at Phu Cat Air Base, So. Vietnam. Major Stires says the tailhook on the F-4D was put there as the plane was originally sent to the Navy for ship landings. However, he could use it on airfields by having them lay down cables if his ability to land normally was damaged!
