Lynn Joseph Lauret Jr
Military ROLL OF HONOURAdded photo
Lynn Lauret was the only son of the family and had three younger sisters. He proudly talked about his family’s ancient French heritage. His grandfather, Frenchman Jean-Pierre Lauret emigrated to the US with his brother to escape military service. Jean-Pierre had twelve children, among which Lynn’ father, Lynn J. Lauret Sr. Lynn Lauret Jr was a Ball Turret gunner in the 381st Bomb Group / 532nd Bomb Squadron. Killed In Action (KIA) in the loss of B-17G # 43-38780 on the Squadron’s 11 December 1944 mission to bomb the bridge over the Rhine at Mannheim, Germany. Note : Like other sources, the National Archives WW II Casualties records for Rapides Parish ( https://nara-media-001.s3.amazonaws.com/arcmedia/media/images/28/30/28-… ) list Lynn’s last name as Laurett. Other official family documents (like the 1940 US Census) have only one T at the end and his last name is indeed Lauret.
