Lyle D Dirks

Lyle was drafted in July 1942 while working on the family farm and joined the Aviation Cadet program. On August 30th 1943 he was commissioned and awarded his wings, then crewed up at Salt Lake City and on to join the 379thBG at Kimbolton. He flew on 30 combat missions April - June 1944. After the war he returned to farming and served in the Iowa Air National Guard.
